- BCPO INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Replace berths with CPO modular berths with privacy partitions and berth curtains arranged in six-person cubicles, as practical, with ten percent long berths. Total number of new berths will be equal to the existing berthing.
- Redistribute air supply terminals to provide overhead diffusers within each berth cubicle.
- Redistribute overhead lighting to conform to new arrangements. Provide one berth light per accommodation and mirror lights as required.
- Improve traffic flow and privacy, as practical, through the arrangement of furniture.
- Provide lockers for stowage of clothing and personal effects to meet or exceed minimums required per accommodations. For CPO (E7-E9) provide 14 cubic feet of locker space, 18 inches hanging space and 0.75 cubic feet of soiled laundry stowage.
- Provide a means of secondary egress if one does not exist and berthing capacity exceeds 21 personnel.
- Provide recreation/lounge area in berthing compartments segregated from sleeping area to the maximum extent feasible.
- Provide storage for iron and ironing board.
- Provide bulletin boards, watch-quarter boards and mirrors.
- Prepare and preserve decks, bulkheads and overheads.
- Replace deck covering.
- Replace any damaged insulation.
- Paint bulkheads and overheads.
- BENL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Replace berths. Total number of new berths shall be equal to the number of existing berth accommodations. One man or two man berths will be a new replacement, and 3-man berths will be an improved full width unit with privacy curtains.

- Provide secretaries and lockers for stowage of clothing and personal effects to meet or exceed minimums required per accommodation in accordance with reference (a). Secretaries include a new safe.
- Provide stainless steel sink unit with storage space above and below sink and with improved faucet and drain components.
- Provide chairs.
- Replace joiner doors.
- Provide accessories and additional shelves, working surfaces and stowage as feasible.
- Replace ventilation diffusers, and as feasible improve distribution of air.
- Redistribute overhead lighting to conform to new arrangements. Provide one berth light per accommodation and mirror lights at each sink. Lights within secretaries will include a receptacle.

- Install cleaning gear locker and service sink or bucket fill area with garden hose connection where practical.
- Modify piping to suit new arrangement and replace any deteriorated piping.
